SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT MADE ON THE LIFE OF THE CANDIDATE POST SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

“Where there is a will, there is a way”

Today, We, The members of Maha Laxmi self-help group fulfilled our dream.We; All the ladies are resident of Mauli Jagran, Chandigarh. We are not much educated at all. We always wondered how we would able tospend our family’s time in this era which is called “Menhgai”.Everyone lived at home but everyone want to dosomething for their family. Then we came to know about Self Employed Tailor free of cost course offered by Shaping Careers Education Society under the scheme of DAY-NULM start edinour city Mouli Jagran.we,all are passionate to learn stitching. Many ladies have enrolled themselves. In Shaping careers Education Society, we learned latest designs of stitching and embroidery.

And, then, A group of ten ladies formed as Maha Laxmi self-help group. Everyone started to collect their savings in the DAY-NULM department a joint account of our group opened in the bank. During that time, our training of self-employed tailor has completed. In this era of pandemic disease covid-19, we, all are stitching designer masks and earning a good income at home. Through this, we serve our society also by sailing our masks at a low price. We and our families are happy in these hard times of everyone’s too. For this, we are very thankful to the ShapingCareers Education Society and DAY-NULM department, because of whom, we are financially independent and also got as our of earning for a better future.

Impact:

SHG’s activities impact the lives of the low-income populace either directly or indirectly.

  • Group members gained the self-confidence to lead a decent life in the
  • They were either employed or self-employed.
  • SHG members availed loans for their children’s education and
  • Understood the importance of group
  • Availed multiple bank linkage and repaid 100%.
  • Came out of abject Quality product making is now a sustainable income-generating group activity.

Needless to say, the vision behind such a model has been to increase their income and quality of life, which, if affected, will not be able to sustain it. The program has had a highly positive impact, especially among low-income groups.

Inclusion:

The financial inclusion attained through SHGs is sustainable and scalable on account of various positive factors. The group numbers use collective wisdom and peer pressure to ensure the appropriate use of funds and members come together towards collective action for a common cause. They good able to meet economic needs without depending on external assistance in emergency times. SHGs have also been taken as a means for the empowerment of rural women. It also proved successful not only in improving the social-economic conditions through income generation but in creating awareness about health and hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness, environmental protection, the importance of education, and response to developmental programs.
